Welcome to Resurgemus dot com. There's an old church in Millersville, Maryland. A family is buried in plot in the cemetary behind the old stone church. For the longest time, I thought the families name was RESURGEMUS. I found out some time later that resurgems is a latin word, roughly translated "we will rise again."
I found it intriguing that someone would eschew the [relative] immortality afforded by having their life and death carved in stone, opting instead for a bold statement of confidence that the plot behind the old stone church would not be their final resting place.
1 Cor 15:51
ecce mysterium vobis dico omnes quidem resurgemus sed non omnes inmutabimur [Latin Vulgate]
Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed [New American Standard Version]
I've often wondered about the identity and history of the family buried there, but I've never made any attempt to actually uncover any information about them. I'm sure the old stone church has records, and with a little research I could have learned who they were, where they came from, how they lived and how they died. Perhaps I just enjoy not knowing.
